‘The story of the unlikely friendship between a boy and a man who come into each other’s lives when they are both in need of a friend.’

Conor Fahy is the owner of struggling bookshop Haymarket Books and is finding it hard to cope with everyday life in the aftermath of his partner Leni’s tragic death.

Conor’s best friend Ella Wilde is struggling with her own problems having just been axed from her job as a TV presenter after being caught shoplifting. She is struggling to deal with the weight of public disgrace and adjust to life away from the TV cameras. But is there more to Ella’s problems than just what appears on the surface?

Jack White is eight years old. He likes Ben 10, Giant Jawbreaker sweets and reading adventure books. He likes his Dad (when he doesn’t shout). He doesn’t like the bad monsters that are eating up his ma inside her tummy.

Rachel Traynor is the social worker assigned to Jack White’s case but sorting out messy family disputes is taking its toll on her. And it doesn’t help that she has had to say goodbye to the man she loves because he doesn't want to have children with her.

Into the Night Sky is the story of four people who come into each other’s lives when they are each in need of a friend and how the bonds that form, change them all forever more.

I had no idea what to expect from this book when I started it. I pulled it at random from my TBR list because I liked the title. I was caught almost immediately. This story takes several different people and brings them all together. Each one has a different story to tell, but they are all related. These stories definitely get your attention and keep it there. I really got upset a few times when real life interfered with me reading this story. You could really empathized with the characters and the story flowed very well between them. The author kept your interest by changing the way the past was shown to you. Some stories were shown by “retelling” and some were shown by using flashbacks. Both were very well done. And I loved the ending. I definitely think everyone should read this story.

Into the Night Sky edition by Caroline Finnerty Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I enjoyed this book, but I didn't love it. It was a good read, with different topics explored but I didn't find it exciting. I would still read other books by this author.
Second of a new author for md and I enjoyed both and found easy to get into but kept me interested tI'll the end
Characters were well developed. Enjoyed how the story was woven around each character and their involvement with the little boy.
The plot was pretty predictable but the book over all was well written with some interesting & well rounded characters. I personally found the two main female characters to be rather whiney, annoyingly so at times. All in all it was a good quick read & I would recommend it.
There are several themes here among the characters which are easy to identify with. These are pretty average but wonderful people who each have their issues to deal with. I thought the author dealt with each with compassion and a lively outlook. The children were the ones I really felt for. The ending gave me hope.
Some would say "Nothing really happens in this book". Not true! It's just that all the best things and all the worst things happen inside the minds and hearts of the characters. I loved all this " Action" I think you will too.
Good stuff first overall this is a nice story, it's about dealing with trauma and difficulties in life. The main characters each have their challenges to overcome, and they help each other find the paths they need to do just that.

Then there's the rest this book needed some reworking and editing. Everyone is described as sad - Ella, Conor, Jack, and Rachel - and others too. It takes 80% of the book before anyone is anything but sad! Surely there are other descriptors out there. I was tempted to give up on the book as it plodded along in this "sad" fashion. Other problems included small glitches like a person is one thing and then another a few paragraphs later to bigger things like Conor being misjudged for some time and then suddenly he's not - all because of a very short conversation that was really no different from previous conversations.

I enjoyed the way things were eventually dealt with, but it was a frustrating reading knowing it could have been put together a lot better.
